Robert Schumann to JJ Brahms (father of Johannes) 5 Nov. 1853
Robert Schumann to Johann Jacob Brahms in Hamburg.
Düsseldorf, Nov.5, 1853
We have got to like your son Johannes very much, and his musical genius has given us some most delightful hours. In order to help him make his debut in the musical world I have publicly expressed my opinion of him. I am sending you the papers in which it has been published and feel sure that they cannot fail to bring a little joy to a father’s heart.
You make look forward with complete confidence to the future of this darling of the Muses and rest assured of my deepest interest in his success.
Yours very faithfully, R. Schumann
